The Tunify Concept
Tunify is a spin-off of the KU Leuven university. We have built a unique music platform by combining the insights of experienced music experts with innovative technology.
Our concept is based on 3 elements that are crucial to the music experience:
- the context
- the subjective character of music
- the need to be able to personalise music
The Tunify technology
‘With Tunify, we have developed our own software. Our algorithms analyse the metadata of music and context to be able to propose the right music for every situation.
To be able to do this, we have mapped out the objective and subjective properties of music and applied advanced technologies such as neural networks and machine learning.
With our knowledge and technology, we are continuing to build on the online Tunify Music Engine. This clever music engine drives all Tunify products.’

Innovation at Tunify
The Tunify team has worked together with the universities of Leuven and Ghent on a number of major research projects, with support from VLAIO (Flemish Innovation & Entrepreneurship).
We have collaborated with the research groups for Human-Computer Interaction and Experimental Psychology at KU Leuven and Digital Speech and Signal Processing at Ghent University. Thanks to these projects, our music experiences today are based on context and subjective information.
At the moment, Tunify is working together with the KU Leuven research groups for Human-Computer Interaction and Declarative Languages and Artificial Intelligence at KU Leuven on an innovative ‘Music Experience’ project.
