Back in 2012, Thibault Christiaensen and Pieter Bruurs baptised their band Equal Idiots. These Flemish friends grew up near the Dutch border, but their garage-rock music is boundless and fierce. Four years ago they won ‘De Nieuwe Lichting’ on alternative radio station StuBru. One year later singer Thibault made a lasting impression on the very popular game show “De Slimste Mens” (The Smartest Human Being), due to his impressive knowledge ànd cuteness.
Will their sophomore album, entitled “Adolescence Blues Community”, which sees daylight today, make an equally lasting impression? Precursors “Run” and “16” sound very promising.
American Shawn Lee and British Andy Platts work together under the alias Young Gun Silver Fox since 2015. Shawn already earned his stripes in the music industry whilst working with the likes of Amy Winehouse, Jeff Buckley and Lana Del Rey. Andy is also a member of Mamas Gun, a band well-known for mixing Pop, Soul and Funk and they are –not kidding- big in Japan.
Their third album together brings you the sound of the Softpop, Soul and Funk of the Sixties and the Seventies.
Black Sabbath was big in those days but not exactly in the soft-pop genre. Vocalist Ozzy Osbourne went solo after their first eight albums. In 1982 he made a lasting impression by biting off the head of one (until then) very much alive bat on stage. He (Ozzy that is) later went to the hospital to get his much-needed rabies vaccination. This gorefest made The Prince of Darkness a living legend. Today he releases his first solo album in ten years and seven years after his reunion album with Black Sabbath. You can imagine his fans were becoming desperate for new blood and/or music. This week Ozzy canceled the North-American leg of his world tour, due to health issues. All the more reason to cherish his latest effort today.
