Which artists and songs did prick up your ears in 2019?
As we get closer to the end of the year, we take time out to look back and reminisce about 2019.
Today we added a playlist with the most streamed songs of the past 12 months to your Tunify (Orange) player. You’ll find this temporary list – called “Most Played 2019” - in the category Hit Parade in Tunify Orange. Which artists and songs did prick up your ears the past twelve months?
Sam Smith and Calvin Harris continue their triumph of 2018, though not together. Sam danced with stranger Normani and Calvin needed a little help from ‘giant’ Rag ‘n’ Bone Man. Like her mum Neneh Cherry exactly thirty years ago, Mabel had her big breakthrough year in the last year of a decade. “Don’t Call Me Up” will keep on ringing in our heads through the coming festive season. The biggest dance hit of 2019, however, comes from the lads of Meduza, with their irresistible “Piece Of Your Heart”. Artists with multiple entries in the top 50 are Alec Benjamin, Alvaro Soler, Ariana Grande, George Ezra, Clean Bandit, Zara Larsson, and Shawn Mendes with or without ‘senorita’ Camila Cabello.
Meanwhile, in The Netherlands local hero Nielson takes the gold medal with “Ijskoud” (“Cold As Ice”). Eurovision Song Contest winner Duncan Laurence stays well behind. Other beloved artists by the Dutch audience are Davina Michelle, Armin van Buuren, Marco Borsato, Jonas Brothers, Why Don’t We, Lewis Capaldi, Mark Ronson & Miley Cyrus, Kygo and Krezip, besides usual suspects Meduza, Mabel, Calvin Harris, and Sam Smith.
There are not many notable differences with the Flemish music lover. In Flanders, they especially love to dance to Meduza. The latest songs by local artists such as Delv!s, Regi, Geike, IBE and The ColorGrey are successful as well.
In Wallonia and France they find Angèle and ‘copine’ Aya Nakamura ‘chouette’ in particular. Just like in previous years, urban music is ‘dope’ and artists like Roméo Elvis, Marwa Loud, Lartiste, M Pokora, Maître Gims, Heuss L’enfoiré and Eva are ‘très populaire’.
So enjoy our review of the year… dance and sing along, just party like it’s 2019!
