Leeuwarden, up in the Netherlands, could well become the newest foodie hotspot because, in addition to The Tosti Club, you’ll also find The Bakery, a modern urban bakery, there. Niels Hoekstra is the owner of both eateries. The Bakery is a bakery, breakfast spot, coffee corner, caterer, and interior design shop all in one. You can buy freshly made bread, cakes, ice cream, croissants, and pastries. But you can also order entire dishes like salads, high-tea packages, and hot sandwiches. Plus, in addition to all those goodies, you’ll also discover cute interior design items for your home.

The sound of trendy, warm, and cosy

“The whole place exudes cosiness. And visitors should not only be able to experience the sights and smells of that vibe, they should be able to hear it too,” says Niels. “The Bakery is trendy, warm, and inviting. From students and families stopping by for a cup of coffee to downtown shoppers, everyone feels at home here. This is partly because of the bohemian Scandinavian interior and the cheerful attitude of the staff, but also because of the relaxing tunes that, thanks to the Tunify app, play through the speakers. Music is very important for a concept like ours,” explains Niels. “It creates the vibe. Good music fills the space and makes it feel cosy.”

Niels owns two businesses, and can operate both of them from the same Tunify account. “We play a different kind of music at The Toasti Club because the concept there is different. We play more jazz there, while I often tend to choose lounge for The Bakery.” Since Niels is not physically at the business himself, Tunify also helps him monitor identity from a distance. “Our employees get to help decide what they want to set up, as long as it fits within the concept.
