Bring the Eurovision Song Contest to your living room #NMF

Unfortunately there is no Eurovision Song Contest this year. But this weekend you can bring the atmosphere of this legendary contest to your living room.

Tunify-Duncan Laurence

When the government announces alternations to the lockdown restrictions or are about to lift the ban, one might risk a rush to stores and public places. Luckily all releases on New Music Friday are virtual, so it is completely harmless for artists to drop their new songs in your Tunify Player.

Dutch duo The Common Linnets became second in the Eurovision Song Contest back in 2014. The female half, Ilse Delange, was the coach of last year’s winner Duncan Laurence. Normally the Song Contest would have been held in Rotterdam this week, but like many other exciting events got postponed to next year. To soften the blow, both Ilse ànd Duncan put new music in your player for you to enjoy this weekend.

Tom Dice is still responsible for Flanders’ best result in the Song Contest. He became sixth with “Me And My Guitar” back in 2010. He has exchanged his guitar for Kato, runner up of Idol 2011. They are now a couple in real life ànd on stage, under their alias The Starlings. As a duo, they found fame thanks to their participation in the well-received TV format ‘Liefde Voor Muziek” (a.k.a ‘Beste Zangers’ in the Netherlands). Today they release their long-awaited debut album. Not only does the music of The Starlings remind us of the abovementioned Common Linnets, Ilse Delange is the star of the German version of ‘Liefde Voor Muziek’ (‘Sing meinen Song’) as we speak. Nevertheless, these are fun facts to tell someone whenever an uncomfortable silence occurs during your Zoom meeting. There are no coincidences.

Other noteworthy new work this week comes from the likes of Alma, Josef Salvat, Perfume Genius, Sleaford Mods, Gavin James, Compact Disk Dummies, Jonas Brothers, Douwe Bob, Mark Ronson & Raissa, Claudio Capéo, Elodie, Moby, Weezer, Callum Beattie, Katy Perry, Alice Cooper, Metejoor, Charles, Arlo Parks, Petra Marklund, Mando Diao, Jason Isbell & The 400 Unit, Cavego, Nora Louisa, Hurts, The Streets, Tensnake, Navii, Seasick Steve and Arizona Zervas.

The songs who would have been performed live on stage in Rotterdam this week, can be found in your Tunify Blue Player. Go to ‘Discover More’, enter ‘Theme Café’, and enjoy the Eurovision Song Contest music from 1956 on, along with songs from national selections all around Europe. Sing along and dance tot he evergreens and guilty pleasures of yesteryear or the winner that could have been. Contenders worth a spin (or stream as we call it now) are The Roop (Lithuania), Brynja Mary (Iceland), Gjon’s Tears (switserland), Diodato (Italy), Ben Dolic (Germany), Roxen (Romania) and VICTORIA (Bulgaria).

But don’t linger too long in the past. Look ahead, go forward and enjoy all the new songs in your Tunify Player along the way. We’ll meet again!
