Music, for better or worse #NMF

Today Friday the 13th is the bearer of good news, at last in terms of new music. We see the long-awaited return of a former One Direction member ànd a peculiar boys band, both from Ireland.

Tunify-The Shires

Irish heartthrob Niall Horan shakes off his One Direction past with his sophomore solo album “ Heartbreak Weather”. The precursor “Nice To Meet Ya” had a broad appeal and even got airplay on alternative radio stations. So, will spring fever be infectious and spark new fans for Niall? Will there be a pot of Golden records at the end of the rainbow for him on Saint Patricks Day? They say curiosity killed the cat, but you can enjoy his new work safely via your Tunify Player!

Fellow Irish countrymen, The Boomtown Rats, are more very happy about the fact it is New Music Friday today. It is Mondays they don’t like. Their last album dates from 1984. Their lead singer made the news ever since as a political activist, philanthropist, Live Aid organiser and initiator of Band Aid. Also, he made a perfect target for the British tabloids when his wife Paula Yates left him for INXS-frontman Michael Hutchence. Michael and Paula died way too soon, as did Bob and Paula’s daughter Peaches, all due to substance abuse. Bob made some solo records, but today the young seniors of The Boomtown Rats find each other again in ten new songs. Will they deliver pure nostalgia or sound like newborn spring chickens?

The Shires are a British duo bringing you fresh country music. Ben and Chrissie became in 2015 the first UK country act to reach the Top 10 with their debut album. Today they release their fourth album and hope to make a name for themselves outside their homeland. Will Spring bring a definitive breakthrough for them? Just wait and listen.

Other new enjoyable tunes to bop along to this weekend are courtesy of Fritz Kalkbrenner, Duke Dumont, Booba, Fleddy Melculy, Circa Waves, Marianne Rosenberg, Laura Lynn, Thomas Dybdahl, Ellie Goulding & Blackbear, Caitlyn Smith, Rita Ora, Early James, Deap Lips, Code Orange, Jordan MacKampa and Cali.

Spring fever or just plain triskaidekaphobia? Newborns or young seniors? Boomtown Rats or curious cats? One thing is for sure: you can always quench your thirst for music in your Tunify Player.
