Music from the other side #NMF

No need to take an airplane to enjoy the culture and fresh music from abroad. Ready for a touch of Australia and Canada? #NMF

There’s a lot to choose from the new music releases this Friday, so join us in the land of musical plenty.

Last week we had brilliant Britpop from Paul Weller, on the other side of the world they apparently know a thing or two about that too. In the music press, Australian threesome DMA’s got compared with early Oasis and The Stone Roses. Are they jumping to conclusions too quickly or is the praise where praise is due? You can be the judge of that thanks to your Tunify Player.

Canadian Rufus Wainwright is the son of folk singers Kate McGarrigle and Loudon Wainwright III and brother to the equally talented Martha. Genetically all is well and with his first new album in eight years “Unfollow The Rules”, he leaves the quarrels with his former record company behind. Was this a good move musically speaking? Enter his name in your player and enjoy the wordsmith.

Soko from France was on a killing mission back in 2007 with her impressive debut “I’ll Kill Her”. Nowadays she seems on parole since there is a new album titled “Feel Feelings” on the release list. We will give her the benefit of the doubt and hopefully you’ll do the same, or she might smother you with feelings this time.

The British The Streets is, in fact, one man only by the name Mike Skinner. This surname and the title of his new ‘mixtape’ “None of Us Are Getting Out of This Life Alive “makes us guess that he’ll get along with Soko just fine. Friends who have already RSVP’d to his mix party are Tame Impala, IDLES, Hak Baker and Chris Lorenzo. Mike expects you to give his latest effort a spin and stream this party weekend.

We have another Mike for you, but this one is from the US of A. Mike Shinoda is not only a multi-talented producer, rap artist, singer-songwriter, multi-instrumentalist, designer and * deep breath * visual artist. You may know him as a member of Fort Minor and Linkin Park. After a “Post Traumatic” album outing due to the suicide of Linkin Park frontman Chester Bennington, he goes solo with “Dropped Frames, Vol. 1”.

Today also a posthumous album from Juice WRLD hits your Tunify player. The American rapper died at the end of last year due to substance abuse, barely 21.

Better news from America comes in the form of the eleventh studio album from good old The Jayhawks. Gary Louis and his fellow band members know how to write and sing a song. And sometimes that’s all you need to get by.

Also new material available as of today from Anitta, James Bay, David Gilmour, Davina Michelle, Glass Animals, Zara Larsson, HONNE, Augustin Galiana, Kele, The Avener & Maddy, Lemon Straw, Old Sea Brigade & Luke Sital-Singh, Satin Jackets, Eli Brown, Pop Smoke, Tessa B & Roméo Elvis, Elderbrook, and twee very long songs from Sufjan Stevens.

Long or short, one new song or a whole collection, from Canada, Down Under, USA, the UK or France, our Tunify ears ànd speakers are eager and waiting for creativity in all its frames and forms!
