What happens when you put artists full of inspiration together … #NMF

Despite the fact that there are no festivals this summer, this New Music Friday proves that the music world doesn’t dwell.

Tunify-Dave Grohl

When the going gets tough, the tough get going. This is pure wisdom, straight from the eighties, sung by Billy Ocean.

No one living in the eighties could ever have imagined a summer without festivals unless you were Marty McFly in the time-traveling DeLorean automobile. Fast forward to the summer of 2020 and you will encounter much creativity and a lot of new releases.

All those lockdown-emotions will materialize very soon into great, inspiring songs. One nameworthy initiative saw the daylight last weekend as ‘One World Together @ Home’ thanks to Lady Gaga and friends. Around the world artists, scientists, celebrities and politicians were united in living room concerts, motivational speeches, and unique collaborations straight from the heart.

In line with expectations, a charity single will be released this Friday, for BBC’s Children In Need and Comic Relief. The biggest stars of the moment, Dua Lipa, Bastille, Ellie Goulding, Rita Ora, Coldplay, Royal Blood and 5 Seconds of Summer join (virtual) hands by reworking Foo Fighters evergreen “Times Like These”. All you have to do to join in is put on your Tunify Player.

With socially critical lyrics Lucinda Williams knows how to woo the press and public. With her thirteenth studio album “Good Souls Better Angels”, she delivers a strong pamphlet on what’s wrong with America today and especially the man in charge. Lucinda is not a new kid on the block. Her career now enters its fifth decade and it was not a walk in the park. Recognition only came late nineties in the form of Grammy Awards and the evergrowing awareness of the fact that she is indeed a great songwriter. Enjoy the depths and talents of the first lady of Americana.

Half a decade ago Will Michiels, a.k.a. The ColorGrey was the new kid on the Belgian Urban scene. His BFF is football player Romelu Lukaku, but namedropping is not Will’s only forte. After two albums and EP’s he drops a colorful collection of new material in your Tunify Player today.

Another noteworthy Belgian artist goes by the name Claire Laffut. At this moment she lives and works in Paris since a big French record company immediately recognized the multi-talented youngster. Her sound and voice remind us of ‘compatriot’ Angèle, which is a good thing. Besides singing, Claire keeps herself busy painting, modeling, designing haute couture and acting. She will not easily be bored during this quarantine one might guess.

Artists with time on their hands were The Roling Stones, Roméo Elvis, The Killers, Victoria Monét, Bon Iver, Galantis, Trivium, Tom Misch & Yussef Dayes, AWOLnation, James Blake, The 1975, Regard & RAYE, Selah Sue, Tommaso Paradiso, Disciples & Lee Foss, Chiara Galiazzo, Freddie Konings, L’Algérino & Soprano, Moses, Jack Garratt, Marble Sounds, Admiral Freebee, Tory Lanez, DMA’s, Sarah Connor, Joost and, yes Sir, Bob Dylan. Them staying in resulted in much approved new music.

For those staying in Tunify can easily break the monotony, since it is your best guide to start spending time with the greatest companion and solace there is -  music.
