How do you arrange music for nearly 40 childcare locations?

The perfect music solution for every childcare location

KinderRijk is a Dutch childcare organisation. In the various branches in Amsterdam and Amstelveen, children aged 0 to 12 can have a great time playing with their peers every day. KinderRijk approached Tunify with a specific question: ‘How can we make sure that all our locations have music for their various activities and that they can play this music legally?’

One solution for all branches

Music is vital in a childcare centre. Just think of activities such as dance, toddler gymnastics or yoga. Children need nursery rhymes to learn and to sing along to. And there are also special events with their own soundtrack, such as birthdays and holidays. In short: music was needed at KinderRijk. ‘But the same solution wasn’t obvious for all the location’, according to KinderRijk. ‘Not every location serves the same age group. Toddlers like different music to the children in after-school care.’

Avoiding illegal streaming

KinderRijk wanted to prevent the locations streaming music themselves illegally. ‘So I was asked to look for a flexible and legal online solution to stream music that could be provided from the main office.’ And I found this wasn’t such an easy task. A lot of music services were unsuitable as they couldn’t translate the situation to the correct environment, which meant it then became unaffordable too. ‘Fortunately we found a listening ear at Tunify. At Tunify they were prepared to think along with us and work out a scalable solution.’

The solution: several streams per location

Each KinderRijk iPad now has Tunify. ‘We provide a login and several music streams per location’, explains the ICT department. ‘Educational staff who need music can log in and see how many streams are free. This means the staff always have the option to play music and we keep costs under control. And that works perfectly.’ With Tunify Orange the KinderRijk staff can put together as many playlists as they want: by age, for the time of the year, for special events or tailored to a specific activity. They can also import playlists from Spotify.

Easy to implement and control centrally

‘For us as a central ICT department it’s vital that a new application is as simple as possible for the people who use it’, he explains. ‘Tunify is in that respect very easy to implement and control remotely. We’ve pushed the app to every iPad and got ICT management to install the player codes. The only thing the users have to do then is start up Tunify and choose a stream. It couldn’t be simpler.’
