Summer vibes in summer bar Lambert in Grobbendonk

Summer bar Lambert is a concept by Brent Geukens and Yannick Van Hauwe. Together they run 4Events, a young and ambitious event agency in Antwerp. "2020 was a difficult year for the events industry," Brent admits. "By launching a pop-up summer bar in Grobbendonk, we hoped to save at least part of our summer. It turned out to be an instant success."

The perfect summer remix

This year, for the second edition, the concept has been further refined. A big screen allows customers to watch the football matches of the European Championship. A DJ booth is already in place for when corona restrictions are lifted, and we can safely dance again. And rum enthusiasts will appreciate the unique blend of the house, containing subtle notes of tangerine, rhubarb and vanilla. Rum Lambert, as it is called, is used in all the refreshing rum-based summer cocktails. So, there's no need to leave the country to feel like you are on an exotic holiday!

The right music for every moment

But the most crucial ingredient for a perfect summer atmosphere is, of course, the right music. "We have friends who are DJs, who have helped us create our summer playlists", Brent explains. "But in addition to those playlists, we sometimes use music agendas and mood channels. That's a completely different crowd than the people who come down on a Friday or Saturday night. At the weekend we play party music, but on a warm summer evening during the week, we prefer something more soothing, like saxohouse."

In the summer bar, all communication runs through a wireless internet connection. "There are several Sonos speakers set up around the site. They are connected to each other via Wi-Fi," Brent explains. "So we only need a power socket; there's no need to have cables everywhere. That's better than having one big speaker, which is deafening to people standing close and inaudible for those at the back."
